Doctors calling………

When we were kids people used to ask as what you want to become when you will grow up and most of the times, our answer is “Doctor”, “Engineer”, or “Lawyer”… and preference is always on Doctor Side.

And the very next question from this person used to be why do you want to become “Doctor” and normally our answer is to make every one healthy or to have healthy world or to help human being or to treat everyone well. 

Now, when we actually get into “Doctor Profession” we forget whatever we used to say about Doctors. Normally our aim becomes to earn more and more money reason we have spent so much money for getting Doctors Degree and we want to cover up those expenses leaving behind the main purpose of becoming Doctor. I am not saying Doctor should not take their fees, but my request is to charge as per person capability if possible or otherwise cover your expense from the rich people. I guess being a Doctor you can always judge who can afford or who can’t afford.

When we have to choose a profession for oneself, most of the time our preference is to become Doctor but when we are ill, we actually scared of going to Doctor because we feel if we go to doctor instead of treating us well, Doctor will try to make money and normally it happens we go for some diseases and we end with lot of other diseases with many tests and x-rays. 

I narrate you one real incidence which happened recently and I could not believe in it. My mom was hospitalized for some breathing problem. I was standing next to her bed when few people came up with one patient and blood was coming out from patient’s mouth. They came into emergency and the person who was sitting on desk asked him to stop and told him that this much money you will have to pay if you want this person treatment otherwise go to some other hospital. I was shocked to see that patient is on death bed and Doctors were asking for money before treatment.

Are we not losing the purpose of being human? I also understand that hospital can’t run on free of cost basis then what is the solution? Should we lose the person just because he / she doesn’t have money or should we develop a mechanism where in the life of the person is saving and simultaneously hospital should not lose its cost? 

Can somebody tell me who is on fault in this scenario and what is the solution?

On the other hand, I met few doctors who are such a nice human being that they even didn’t take their consultation from me? I am not saying them good just because they didn’t take their fees but because of their nice behavior and helping without self-interest.
