Flattery

In my organisation there is a person who exactly behaves like Arman Kohli of Big Boss. Hope everybody knows Arman Kohli. The way he shouts in the serial always reminds me the person in my office. This person is always shouting with no reason and then saying sorry realising that it could harm his personal interest. When I say personal interest it means he wants to get his personal work done by his colleagues. He always supports those people in the organisation who do his personal work. To attract them he every now and then gives them lunch party, snacks party. To my surprise sometimes he gives them money with no reason. He does all this just to get sympathy and getting the work done which could be done by paying little amount to outside person. It is shocking to see people are happy to do his work because being a head of business he can affect their performance.  I don’t understand why people don’t believe in their work. Rather than they believe in flattery so that they don’t

Non-monetary gifts to get favour of HR Department When I was new in HR department, people used to give different items like offering tea, coffee, giving gifts without reason to lure people in hr department to get favour in attendance, appraisal process or leave. Being unaware of this fact, I was doing my work as usual. One day one of my colleagues came to me and asked me if I know why other people give us VIP treatment. I replied in a normal tone, may be they like us or they feel we are good to share feelings of them.  She laughed at me and gave me strange look. After that she explained me about this fact. Tell me if you had faced the same experience in your past work situation?
